The “Summer Parks” email – It’s Here!

The long awaited Summer Parks List is here!
Hello everyone! Now that you found our Summer Parks List, I hope you and your family are well and that you are enjoying your summer!
WHAT is this?
The Summer Parks List organically grew from a small list of friends on email, to a massive, cumbersome mess in my Inbox. Each week I would email over a hundred people on our contact list, who the kids knew through school, church, soccer, and other activities. Originally, we wanted a way to let our friends know, where and when we would be at certain parks to meet up or have some fun summer adventure around our city of Sammamish, WA. There was no need to respond with a ‘yes, we’ll be there’ or ‘no-can’t make it’ the Summer Parks List would let you know what park we will be at, if you wanted to join us. This worked very well for many summers, but now that the kids are older, we are finding that most people who received our Summer Parks List would use the information and ideas that best suited their summer schedules.
With our new and improved Northwest Update (our friends fondly remember our printed newsletter gone into the 21st Century) we are now posting to our website all of the parks, activities and things-to-do this summer for you!

From www.keysers.com
Select Summer Parks under Seasonal Activities on the right-hand menu.
It’s a blog, to be interactive – so post your questions or comments, information on directions or additional info, please! We’ll reply too.

The majority of you are from our kids’ classes: Heather, Harrison & Holly and most of you live in our neighborhood or close by.  However, as this will reach many friends, near and far, we hope that you investigate, similar activities in your area.

BACKGROUND:
This is my 5th year sending out to my ‘Parks’ email list.
Over the last several years, we visited over 20 different parks during the summer on the Eastside and many of you joined us for some great fun! We’ve met up to play chess, toss Frisbees, fly kites, ride bikes, blow bubbles, enjoyed popsicles, played tennis and basketball in the courts. Last year, we added events like The Experience Music Project EMP great for older kids, 10 and up; and Remlinger Farms good for younger kids (2-7), but they have a climbing wall, bike rides, mini-roller coaster and spinning rides for older kids. 8 and up.

THIS SUMMER 2011:
The Keyser Summer theme this year is all about The Beatles: “Here Comes The Sun”
This summer will be all about Paul, John, George and Ringo. Lots of interesting songs, music trivia and history of the Beatles will be reveled. I like to point out songs on the radio, tv ads, covers and even musak which trickle into our daily lives. Who were the Beatles?  How did they meet and form a phenomenon?  We may even play a little Beatles Rock Band on XBOX.
