It’s Oscar time (2014)

A friend posted a great question, the Friday before Oscars:

The Oscars are this Sunday and I haven’t seen most of the movies nominated.  If I have time to see 1 movie, what should it be?

My response:

I have been trying to cram in all of the movies; here’s a map:

You can stream Dallas Buyers Club, Nebraska, Captain Phillips is on DVD.

American Hustle, Gravity, her, Philomena, 12 Years a Slave and Wolf of Wall Street are all in theaters now.

I would group these pictures into two categories: artsy (drama) and blockbuster (noisy and loud).   If you want to hear yelling and special effects see: Gravity, Wolf of Wall Street.  Drama/lots of speaking/maybe a good cry: her, Philomena, 12 years a Slave.

With that all said, I am also watching Nebraska this morning, and have seen Wolf, her, Dallas Buyers Club, and American Hustle (partial, had to pick up kids and had to leave theater!)

Anyway, out of the 4 I saw, I LOVED Dallas Buyers Club and Matthew McConaughey got the golden globe for it.  And her, which was excellent!

Here’s my “no spoilers” review, of her.  I had some issues with Wolf and American Hustle, maybe because I didn’t see the ending…I am hoping that it ends like Fight Club; but I won’t be able to see it until it streams or out on DVD.

If I have the chance, I will see Gravity next.
