A facebook page popped up that allowed people to “adopt” a graduating senior. The rules were simple, place a #notadopted in front of the description of your graduating senior, add some photos and someone will “adopt” them in the comments. Once adopted, changed the # to #adopted. Info exchanged and gifts to the senior flowed. Here’s my post, pictures and Harrison’s #gratitude post:
#adopted This is our wonderful, middle child and only son, Harrison, who is an honor student and Senior at Eastlake High School in Sammamish, WA. Harrison is a chess champion, and he teaches elementary school kids chess after school. So, in addition to losing out on the rest of his senior year, he also lost his after school chess job, which he enjoys very much. He has played chess and the piano for 15 years; and spent 4 years singing in the high school choir, district honors choir and State combined choirs. His high school choir missed out on singing at Carnegie Hall last month, which would have been his 2nd time singing there, when everything came to a halt in Washington and NY. Harrison is an Eagle Scout and his project was to paint the world and USA maps on a local elementary school playground. He is super sweet, thoughtful, honest and funny. Harrison is attending college acceptance days online and will make a decision on a college to study Biology. TIA for adopting!
Harrison sings in the high school choir; and plays the piano.Harrison was nominated by the Humanities Department at Eastlake for Student of the Month at the Sammamish Rotary Club, beating out nominees from his school as well as Skyline and Eastside Catholic.
Off to work, Harrison enjoys teaching elementary school kids how to play chess.
Eagle Project: painting the USA and World Maps
Eagle Project: painting the USA and World maps, Harrison love geography; this school had not had this done in 10 years, and he organized over 30 people, got supplies donated and spent about 4 days total on the actual template and painting execution.
#Gratitude To Beth for the thoughtful package for our son and graduating senior, Harrison. Honestly, this was the first time (in too long) I saw a big smile on his face! ❤️ He was surprised and grateful. Even shared some of the goodies with his little sister. Thank you and thanks to the National Adopt a 2020 Senior Project organizers – this was just wonderful to be apart of!
